Stadsschouwburg
The building that is now the Stadsschouwburg (or City Theatre) dates back to 1480. Originally the reception hall of Margaret of York’s palace, it was turned into a theatre at the beginning of the seventeenth century.
The well-equipped theatre has 393 seats, comfortable artists’ dressing-rooms and an atmospheric foyer with wall paintings by pupils of Gustave van de Woestyne.
